How to Start Using Night Eye
Install Night Eye, enable Dark Mode on your first website and adjust the appearance to match your preferences. This guide will help you complete the essential setup in just a few minutes.
This guide covers the Night Eye browser extension. Mobile setup may differ depending on your device and browser.
Install → Open → Enable → Customize → Explore
Step 1: Install Night Eye in Your Browser
Select your browser and install Night Eye from its official extension store. Night Eye is available for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Brave, Vivaldi and Yandex Browser.
Why Does the Browser Ask to “Read and Change All Your Data on All Websites”?
Browsers use this standard permission wording for extensions that need to modify web pages. Night Eye needs access to the page’s colors, backgrounds, text and interface elements so it can convert them into Dark Mode.
All analysis and color conversion happen locally on your device. Night Eye does not send the websites you visit, your browsing history or page content to Night Eye servers. No browsing or page data leaves your device as part of the Dark Mode conversion.
Step 2: Open Night Eye From Your Browser Toolbar
After installing Night Eye, open your browser’s Extensions menu and select Night Eye. Pinning the extension keeps its icon visible, making it easier to control Dark Mode while browsing.
- Select the Extensions icon in the browser toolbar.
- Find Night Eye in the extension list.
- Select the pin option, then click the Night Eye icon to open it.
- Select the Extensions button in the Firefox toolbar.
- Find Night Eye and open its settings menu.
- Pin Night Eye to the toolbar, then select its icon.
- Open Safari Settings and choose Extensions.
- Enable Night Eye and allow the required website access.
- Select the Night Eye icon from the Safari toolbar.

Step 3: Open Your First Website in Dark Mode
Once Night Eye is installed, open any website. Night Eye starts in Dark Mode and automatically converts supported websites as they load—there is no need to enable it on every page.
If the website was already open when you installed Night Eye, refresh that tab once so the newly installed extension can begin converting it.
To view or change the appearance of the current website, select the Night Eye icon from the browser toolbar. You can switch between Dark, Filtered and Normal modes or adjust the available display controls.
That’s it. Night Eye will continue converting supported websites automatically and remember any website-specific changes you make.
Choose How the Website Should Appear
Night Eye provides three modes for controlling how the current website appears.
Dark Mode
Converts the website’s colors, backgrounds, interface elements and smaller images into a complete dark experience.
Filtered Mode
Keeps the website’s original colors while allowing you to adjust brightness, contrast, warmth and dimming.
Normal Mode
Shows the website in its original appearance without Night Eye’s dark-mode conversion.
Step 4: Adjust the Website to Your Preferences
If the website appears too bright or dark, use Night Eye’s display controls to fine-tune it. Start with one small adjustment and continue until the page feels comfortable.
Quick example: Browsing in a dark room? Reduce Brightness slightly and increase Dim until the page feels comfortable.

Step 5: Apply Settings Globally or to One Website
Apply to All Websites
Use the same mode and display adjustments across supported websites.
Apply to the Current Website
Customize the website you are visiting without changing how other websites appear.
