Pinterest Dark Mode: How to Turn It On on Desktop, iPhone and Android

Pinterest has dark mode in its iPhone and Android apps, but not on its desktop website. The mobile app follows your device's appearance settings. On a PC or Mac, install Dark Mode Extension – Night Eye to add a customizable dark appearance to Pinterest in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

How to turn on Pinterest dark mode on iPhone or iPad

These steps apply to the Pinterest iOS app, not a Safari browser extension.

  1. Open the iPhone or iPad Settings app.
  2. Tap Display & Brightness.
  3. Under Appearance, select Dark.
  4. Return to the Pinterest app. If necessary, close and reopen it.

Pinterest supports this on iOS 13 or newer. It follows the system appearance rather than offering a separate in-app dark-mode switch.

How to turn on Pinterest dark mode on Android

These steps apply to the Pinterest Android app, not the mobile browser.

  1. On Android 10 or newer, open Settings → Display.
  2. Choose Dark or Dark theme (the label may vary by device).
  3. Reopen Pinterest if the appearance does not update.

For Android 9 and older, Pinterest's help documentation directs users to Battery Saver from Quick Settings. The resulting behavior may vary by device.

What if I use Pinterest in a mobile browser?

The Pinterest app's appearance setting does not guarantee a dark theme for pinterest.com in a mobile browser. Night Eye supports Safari on iPhone/iPad and selected Android browsers, including Firefox for Android, Edge for Android and Yandex for Android. Install the compatible browser extension separately; browser support and setup vary.

Pinterest dark mode not working? Troubleshooting

Pinterest still shows a white background

Refresh pinterest.com, then verify that Night Eye is enabled and that the current site is set to Dark, not Normal. Check whether pinterest.com has been added to your allow/disallow or site-specific mode settings.

Night Eye cannot change Pinterest

Review the browser's extension permissions and allow Night Eye to access Pinterest. On Mac, check Safari → Settings → Extensions and website access. Reload the tab after changing permissions.

Some parts are dark but others stay light

Try refreshing the page, changing brightness or contrast, and checking the board or Pin page again. Pinterest can change its page structure, so conversion may vary between views.

Colors or layouts look wrong

Temporarily disable other dark-mode, color-filter or page-style extensions to check for conflicts. Compare Dark and Filtered modes. If the problem persists, use Night Eye's built-in support button and share the Pinterest URL, browser version and a screenshot.
